Man Arrested For Raping Child In Centennial Park

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A 62-year-old man was arrested Friday for sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy inside Centennial Park.
Metro police said Scobey Sowell, who is homeless, will be charged with rape of a child for the attack Friday afternoon.
The child reported the attack to an adult female guardian and pointed out his assailant, who was riding a bicycle, according to a Metro police news release.
The woman called police. Officers from Metro, Metro Parks as well as nearby Vanderbilt University searched the vicinity for Sowell. He was spotted at Charlotte Pike and 20th Avenue North.
Police said during questioning, Sowell implicated himself in the sexual assault.
His arrest history includes charges of trespassing, public intoxication and trespassing, drunkenness as well as robbery, disorderly conduct and sexual assault.
