"Through private and public funding, the program has been able to place 245 individuals in apartments throughout Tulsa"

Nice to see Tulsans trying to assist their less fortunate, even if it's only enough for 76 additional units. Of course, thats 76 more than Nashville was able to muster last year as part of their 2005 (was it 05 or 04? ) pledge to add 200 units a year for ten years.

Let's see, how many affordable housing units did we create for folks last year?

Oh yes, that's right: 0.

Yeah, thats it. We got a grand total of zero units for folks last year and it looks like we're on track for another barnbusting year in 2008.

Hell, we've
only been able to get something like 84 total since the goal was announced....

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - A program aimed at treating homeless people with chronic mental illnesses is getting $2 million in funding from the state Legislature.

The program administered by the Tulsa Housing Authority is intended to place mentally ill people in homes so they can get appropriate treatment.

Through private and public funding, the program has been able to place 245 individuals in apartments throughout Tulsa. The $2 million boost will allow for about 76 more units.

Mental Health Association of Tulsa executive director Mike Brose says the program would need about 200 more apartments to accommodate all of the city's homeless people with chronic mental illnesses.
