Contributor Art-Luck A Hit At Downtown Pres

I braved the gauntlet of country and western fans to travel downtown last night in order to attend the Contributor's first (and hopefully annual) Art-Luck, held at the historic Downtown Presbyterian Church. The effort placed the artwork of a number of homeless individuals on display and turnout was decent, considering the current climate of hostility towards people experiencing homelessness in Nashville. Many thanks to Ken Locke, Tom Wills and everyone else at the church for giving us this wonderful opportunity; we were exceptionally pleased that we were the first event to be held on the newly installed floor of the dining area! Sounds rather ordinary and perhaps simplistic until you realize just how difficult it was to get the new floor in place and the significance of the dining area in the first place - over its lifetime, the Downtown Pres has served meals and church services to literally thousands of homeless men, women and children. When it was shut down to replace the floor, many folks went hungry as a result, so it was with great relief and joy - not the least of which was experienced by Pastor Ken and Tom - that the floor had finally been completed.
