We are implementing the first phase of our new Vulnerability Index effort today, rolling out the surveys at the soon to be demolished Inner City Ministries Tent City location.
We've decided to deviate slightly from the standard method of implementation for a couple of reasons; first, we want to be able to assist the folks who are about to be uprooted and displaced as efficiently and effectively as possible and we believe having the completed questionnaires and interviews will help us to provide very specific assistance to these individuals.
Second, we believe that when we are ready to present our data to interested potential stakeholders, we will have not only the documented successes of this program in other cities, but also a head start in implementing it here in Nashville as well.
We're working now with the program's architect, Becky Kanis, and plans to bring her and her team to Nashville when we're ready to initiate the effort citywide are currently in the works.
For now, the documents available here will provide interested parties with pertinent information explaining what it is we're about to do and how we're about to do it, as well.

Who is the most vulnerable to illness, mortality, and continued homelessness? Many communities are taking steps to identify people who experience chronic homelessness. Some are going further, developing tools to prioritize homeless people who are most at risk. Workshop speakers described a new Vulnerability Index for assessiong who is most at-risk of mortality and other tools to identify vulnerability and help target permanent supportive housing.
