At Rhino Books, Fred Koller said that in the past 12 months, his business's door was kicked-in, his four-ton air condition unit was stolen and then his cash register was stolen on Monday night.After the latest robbery, Koller started asking other nearby business owners if they were experiencing any thefts. It turns out Hollywood Beauty Salon was recently robbed, and Park Avenue Baptist Church was broken into last Sunday.
"I'm worried about my employees' safety, and I'd love to see this neighborhood come back," said Koller.In the historic Richland Park shopping district, there are lots of new stores and restaurants that are prospering. But at the same, crime is affecting the area's growth.The west police precinct said on Tuesday they will send a community officer to the area to meet with any of business owners who want to talk about crime in the area.
