A Last Ditch Effort by Father Strobel in the Works....

As most of you who read this blog at all know, I'm working exclusively in Tent City currently, trying to assist approximately 75-100 people - many of whom have lived at this site for years - in trying to find new places to call home before Sept. 3rd arrives and with it, the Public Works trucks, dozers and loaders. A last ditch effort is underway tomorrow to try and talk Inner City Ministries into changing their minds about razing the camp. Father Charlie Strobel and Jeannie Alexander, former director of the NHPP and now colleague of mine at Park Center, are scheduled to pay a visit to the senior staff at Iinner Cities in order to discuss the closing of Tent City. I suspect that at this point, pleas to keep the camp open will fall on deaf ears, but it is my - along with many others' - fervent hope that at the very least, the ministry will relent and allow camp residents until November 1st to leave. This will allow many of those with absolutely no other place to go to at least access Room at the Inn, since if and when they all leave in early September, the only place they have to go to is the street. If you're the praying sort, now's a good time to ask your God for some help for your fellow human beings because they need it, make no mistake about it....
