BOLINAS, Calif.—A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to two years in state prison for his role in the brutal beating of a homeless man in the coastal community of Bolinas.

Ryan Patrick Lorne of Bolinas is one of six suspects charged in the June 23 beating of 33-year-old Ricky Green.

Authorities say the six suspects stabbed Green with a knife, and beat him with a skateboard, broken bottles and a flashlight. Investigators say Lorne wielded the flashlight.

Green suffered a skull fracture, brain swelling and numerous puncture wounds.

Lorne was sentenced Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to felony assault charges last month. Prosecutors agreed to dismiss an attempted murder charge.

Lorne's attorney says the judge's sentence was too harsh.
