Big John steps up to the plate and gets affordable housing moving in New Jersey. I wonder, what with all the big names in music floating about our fair city, whether someone famous and local would also be willing to step up to our plate and help our Homelessness Commission get moving with their pledge to provide "200 affordable housing units each year," since so far they've been unable to muster much in the way of getting it done on their own.
Understand I'm not maligning any of the members on the commission; rather, I'm pointing out that they cannot work miracles with empty wallets.
I often hear tales about folks of the country music genre talking about the tough times they've had, the homelessness they've experienced, and their absolute love for the country and those who are suffering in it. What better way to put one's money where one's mouth - or music - is and kick off a real effort to bring affordable housing within reach of hundreds of our most impoverished and most desperate.....
Bon Jovi Donates $1 Million To Housing Project

Rocker Jon Bon Jovi has donated $1 million to help build new affordable housing in his home state of New Jersey.
The Bon Jovi star joined state Governor Jon Corzine, Newark, New Jersey Mayor Cory Booker, and fashion designer Kenneth Cole on Tuesday to announce the $15 million project.
The singer's Philadelphia Soul Charitable Foundation will provide the donation to the 51-unit building in Newark, the state's largest city, which will house the homeless and people with special needs.
