While I've not yet attended this particular fundraiser, I have tremendous respect and admiration for the work that Pastor Ken Locke, Tom Wills and the congregation have done and continue to do for the Homeless of Davidson County. Their tireless devotion to caring for the less fortunate and downtrodden in our society is both humbling and awe-inspiring. I cannot thank them enough for what they do every day to assist the Homeless in our town.

Downtown hosts 81st annual Waffle Shop Thursday
Since 1926, Nashvillians have gathered in December at the corner of Fifth and Church streets to eat waffles, and the tradition continues this Thursday with the Downtown Presbyterian Church’s 81st Annual Waffle Shop.
“It’s the oldest church fundraiser in Nashville,” Tom Wills, event co-chair, said. “And we’re using the same recipe we think they used back then.” The Waffle Shop runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, and the money raised will go toward preserving the building and the church’s homeless ministry. “It’s $6, and you get a waffle, either your choice of turkey hash or sausage, grits and spiced tea or coffee,” Wills said. “You can drown it all in syrup and butter if you wish to.” The fundraiser began in the 1920s when the church’s Presbyterian Women organization served waffles to downtown Nashville Christmas shoppers. Wills said he expects around 700 people to visit the waffle shop this year. “We’ll open our doors and welcome anyone in Nashville who can get to the corner of Fifth and Church,” he said. Advance tickets are available by calling the church office at 254-7584.
