Don't threaten Seattle's homeless, or else SEATTLE

It's now against the law to threaten a homeless person in Seattle with physical harm.

The city council added the homeless to the malicious harassment law that also deals with gender identity, marital status, political ideology, age or parental status.

City Council President Nick Licata who sponsored the change says Seattle wants to be a "city of love, not of hate."

The ordinance approved Monday also makes it a crime to damage the belongings of homeless people.
