COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - Council Bluffs police say two men are in custody and the search continues for a third suspect in the attack on a homeless man.
Authorities say Jeff Harriman was assaulted in a "series" of attacks Friday afternoon, between noon and 3 p.m.
Two other transients have been arrested. Charles Armstrong and Mark Foster are charged with willful injury. Police are searching for another suspect.
Detective Ray Robinson says a witness told officers that he saw three men assaulting Harriman by hitting him with a piece of wood and their fists and kicking him in the head.
Authorities said Monday that Harriman was in critical condition at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.
