CALGARY - A homeless man who was severely beaten after arriving in Calgary to look for work is undergoing surgery and has been unable to give any information to police about his attackers.
Det. Len Dafoe says the 46-year-old man, who has family in Peterborough, Ont., arrived by bus on Saturday night from Vancouver where he had been working construction.
He was looking for work and planned to upgrade his trucker's license, they said.
The unidentified man was sleeping under some trees when he was attacked.
Dafoe said at this point there has been no opportunity to talk to the victim and there have been no witnesses.
The man, who stumbled into a local Greyhound bus depot seeking help, is in stable condition but it will be several days before he is able to speak to police.
