Sorry for the delay in getting this posted but I just found this list this morning. These centers will be open whenever the temperatures are above 95 degrees and from what I saw on the news, they appear to have plenty of space available.
Community Centers Become Cooling Centers
Aug 9, 2007
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - All 22 Metro Parks and Recreation community and recreation centers are serving as cooling centers during the recent heat wave. The buildings will be opened longer Thursday, Friday, Saturday and next week.
Metro Parks and Recreation Director Roy Wilson said anyone may visit the centers to sit awhile or read a book or simply to cool down. Wilson said administrators decided to extend hours at the centers and offer water to those who need to just come in and cool off.
Metro is aiming the cooling center projects at people who must spend a lot of their days working outside.
Wilson said the extended hours will be in effect as long as the temperatures are at least 95 degrees.
East Park Community Center, Hadley Community Center and Hartman Community Center will be open from 6 a.m. - 8 p.m.
The other 19 centers have varying hours. For information, call 862-8400 or visit http://www.nash
