Leaving town today for some personal business and a little fun in Services in Supportive Housing but wanted to share some very important news coming down the pipeline that promises to make May memorable for many of us. According to one of my colleagues, contacts at USICH say the Federal Strategic Plan (FSP) will be released on 5/20, and mentioned some details that might be of interest.
The contact states it will be written like a business plan, with a focus on:1) "investment for results,"2) transparency, and measuring and reporting outcomes;3) "new markers for collaborations targeted to the goals, with priority going to programs/agencies that use research, EBPs and emerging/promising practices; and4) greater sharing of data across agencies.
Might we see some additional help here in the Nashville area? Time will tell so keep your fingers crossed, cuz like must places in the good ol U.S. of A, we could darn sure use it...Also, in the 2011 budget, HUD will get a 11.9% increase in homelessness funding, and HUD will create a new program "Housing Services for Homeless Persons Demonstration Project." It will offer 10,000 units of PSH, with 4,000 reserved for chronic homeless, combined with $16 million from HHS (SAMHSA?) for supportive services. The remaining 6,000 units will be vouchers for families experiencing homelessness.
