First and foremost, Project Homeless Connect kicks off tomorrow from 8-3 at the municipal auditorium in downtown Nashville! This of course is brought to you by our good friends and colleagues at the Key Alliance (the new name for the Nashville Homelessness Commission) so please, if you can, stop by and volunteer and/or just let volunteers know how important this is to the good peeps of Nashville, both on the street and in our community.
The Second important event will be the Remembrance Event for Velvet Thunder at Center Stage, which is just north of the Room in the Inn (Campus for Human Development) at 532 8th Ave South.
The Remembrance event will continue to pay tribute to a man who contributed three decades worth of free and beautiful music to Nashville, and....
The get-together itself will be used to announce and promote the new Homeless Songwriter's Class currently being held at Room in the Inn. The hope is that Music City will recognize just how many people who are homeless are here in Nashville because they had/have a dream of being able to write music and came here to follow that dream.Unfortunately, it's a tough business to break into and many individuals end up with their hopes and dreams dashed, trying to write music when they're not struggling to survive under the Sullivan Andrews bridge or hiding from predators along the river's edge.
I hope you can make it to both events and I'll see you there!
