Heart's a'Twitter - Homeless Father Finds Daughter After Tweeting

It's not unusual to me to see a story with a result like this, but what is a tad surprising is that the gentleman doing the tweeting is 58.  I've noticed that there is a bit of hesitancy and reluctance; confusion about its purpose might be a better description, from folks around my age when it comes to using Twitter, so it's been a bit of a slow start for a lot us in the Twitter world.

I think that is changing tho, as uses for Twitter become more well known and stories like this one circulate into the mainstream.  My company, the Center for Social Innovation, has begun Tweeting as a marketing component for our t3 product line, and so far, it has been a successful effort.  Not sure whether it's kicked up new business for us, but it definitely has served to get our name and product into cyberspace in a quick and efficient way.

A New York City homeless man has been reunited with his daughter after 11 years - thanks to Twitter.

Daniel Morales was given a prepaid cell phone to create a Twitter account as part of a project on homeless people called Underheard in New York. Three weeks into the project, the 58-year-old decided to use the social networking tool to find his 27-year-old daughter, Sarah Rivera.

The New York Daily News says on Wednesday he posted his cell phone number, her name and a photo of her at age 16. She called him the next day.

On Friday, their reunion was recorded on WCBS-TV. Morales said he was overjoyed.

Rivera said social networking was amazing. Morales lives at a homeless shelter. His daughter lives in Brooklyn.
